Giving Part 2-Tithing

B) Giving: Part II-Different Types of giving.

1. Tithe:-is a one tenth part of something. Translated from the Hebrew word “MAASRAH” which means one tenth of the whole. Tithe is the foundation of all other form of covenant giving; it’s the bedrock upon which other giving (s) is laid. It has to be paid by all children of God to the ministry they receive their spiritual nourishment. Tithe is to be paid in spite of the circumstances that surround an individual at the point of receiving an income.

(Genesis 14:18, Holy Bible, King James Version)-18. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the highest God.
19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20. And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand, And he gave him tithes of all.
• Abram tithed for everyone that was under him, thus, we may literally say he brought a corporate tithe.
• This entails that companies or business are to tithe at all times because there is income that is accrued by the organization. All the income that has accrued to a company within a particular month is subject to tithe on that particular month.

(Malachai 3:6-10, Amplified Bible)-6.For I am the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O sons of Jacob are not consumed.
7. Even from the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My ordinances and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, How shall we return.
8. Will a man rob or defraud God. Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, In what way do we rob or defraud you. (You have withheld your) tithes and offerings.
9. You are cursed with the curse, for you are robbing Me, even this whole nation.
10. Bring all tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me by it, says the Lord of hosts, if will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing ,that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

• God changes not nor does His principles change. The word of God says He is the same yesterday, today and forever more. This implies that the covenant of tithing is still in place even today and will forever be in place.
• The disobedience of not paying the tithe will right away activate a curse upon your life. God will not curse you, but rather you will not have his covering thus vulnerable or exposed to the curse.
• It is entirely within your choice whether to pay the tithe or not, thus it’s not like you have to be prompted by the Spirit to pay a tithe you just have to do it at all times.
• The payment of tithes is an expression of your faith in God, thus an evidence of one’s compliance to the statutes and principles of God. It is also an act of obedience to God.
• Failure to pay a tithe is an act of fraud or robbery to God. In other words this implies that a tithe you have to pay it in spite of how you feel or the amount you have received. Thus, a tithe is money that we will forever owe as long as we receive an increase in our monies.
• A tither will always have a blessing more than enough for him or her. God is the one responsible for opening the doors in your life.

For example
1. Lets make an illustration of Jack and John. Jack lends John US$1,000,000.00 as capital for his business. After 5months John pays back Jack the aforementioned amount. Jack is not expected to tithe on that amount because there was no increase on it. In other words he is just returning the money that he borrowed.

2. If John returns the US$1,000,000.00 with US$50,000.00 on top as a token of appreciation for the favor granted to him. In principle that means he will receive US$ 1,050,000.00.He is to tithe on the US$50,000.00, thus the tithe will be US$5,000.00.The US$50,000.00 is an increase on the initially lender money thus subject to tithe because it had never been tithed on by the lender.

NB: Tithe is always done on an increase at any given time that one receives an increase in income. Always know that if you are to lend someone any money that money should be taken from an income that has already been tithed upon.
